Sunderland Dance CIC work in partnership with many schools in the area.
We provide services for many special interest projects and are able to tailor our services for pupils with special needs.
We provide support for a variety of schemes, from school production coaching to dance and fitness workshops.

Dance F4ward Programme
Dance F4ward is a school programme of cross curricular dance opportunities and an excellent way of engaging with all young people.
Our programmes are an innovative, fun and exciting way to enhance topics and themes being studied.

Physical Development has various important aspects -

• Improved skills and co-ordination
• Improved spacial awareness
• Health and body awareness
• Confidence Building
• Healthy and active
• Positive sense of well-being
  

Dance Mobility for Children with Disabilities
Through networking and partnership working we indentified a needs gap for dance opportunities geared towards disabled members of our community.
With support from Sunderland Council through SIB funding, we have designed a programme of studio based gentle exercises and dance classes for children and young adults with disabilities and/or learning difficulties.

This project is to enable participants up to the age of 19 years to:

• Increase fitness,
• Increase self confidence and self esteem
• Develop creativity.

The classes are fun, exciting and innovative in promoting these areas of development.
Participants benefit significantly from this project as:

• Fitness levels increased
• Stamina increased
• Social interaction and positive relationships are developed and nurtured.
• Enpowering
• Positive look

Those members of our community who are sometimes discriminated against because of a disability are given the opportunity to access and enjoy physical activities in a professional environment with excellent teachers. Our Ethos is to celebrate individual differences and the valuable contributions and ideas that come from all participants.

We hope that this very special project helps to support social inclusion and builds towards a cohesive community.

Step Forward and Dance

Step Forward and Dance (Durham)

Following on from the huge success of the Step Forward & Dance programme in Sunderland we successfully gained funding to roll this project out in Durham.
