Kool Kids
Fresh Kids is a brilliant breakdance workshop. It teaches kids the basics of breakin’, it’s fun, vibrant and most importantly gets kids moving and encourages them to enjoy keeping fit. This project has been a great success and is proving very popular as numbers are growing week by week.
This workshop runs every Friday from 4.30pm - 6.30pm and is open to all.
Funky Fems
In this project we work specifically with Asian mums and daughters. A programme has been specially designed and choreographed to get mothers and daughters working closely together whilst keeping fit and enjoying urban dance.
Schools
Sunderland Dance CIC work in partnership with many schools in the area. We provide services for many special interest projects and are able to tailor our services for pupils with special needs. We provide support for a variety of schemes, from school production coaching to dance and fitness workshops.
Dance F4ward Programme
This is a school programme of cross curricular dance opportunities and an excellent way of engaging with all young people. Our programmes are an innovative, fun and exciting way to enhance topics and themes being studied. Physical Development is all about improving skills of co-ordination, control, manipulation and movement, improving spatial awareness and health and body awareness.
Physical Development has two important aspects – it helps young people gain confidence in what they can do and enables individuals to feel positive benefits of being healthy and active. Effective physical skills development supports children to develop a positive sense of well being.
The creative nature of dance can bring many benefits such as improved general and psychological well being, better social skills and interaction with others, increased self-confidence and raised self esteem.
Fresh Kids of Hendon
This is our breakdancing workshop for the kids from the Hendon area only. 5 - 18 year olds are all welcome. Urban Dance provides opportunities to participate in something relevant and meaningful and which reflects youth cultures and interests. As well as increased fitness levels, self confidence and motivation are developed which helps young people to reach their own potential.
Creativity is nurtured and skills and techniques acquired from dance have to potential to unlock talent. The classes are taking place over the summer vacation period and so act as a diversionary activity to help reduce antisocial behaviour. The children also get to experience a professional dance studio and at the end will have the opportunity to perform their new found talent to the Hendon community.
Fresh Kids of Hendon starts 10th July at 5 - 6pm and every Thursday there after at Platinum Dance Studio, Sunderland.
