Our projects here at Sunderland Dance CIC

Schools

Sunderland Dance work in partnership with many schools across the region.

We provide services for many special interest projects and are able to tailor our services for pupils with special needs.

We provide support for a variety of schemes, from school production coaching to dance and fitness workshops.

Danceability

Danceability

A programme of gentle exercises and dance classes for children and young adults with disabilities and/or learning difficulties. The classes are fun, exciting and innovative in promoting these areas of development.

This project is to enable participants up to the age of 19 years to:

  • Increase fitness.
  • Increase self confidence and self esteem.
  • Develop creativity.

Participants benefit significantly from this project as:

  • Fitness levels increased.
  • Stamina increased.
  • Social interaction and positive relationships are developed and nurtured.
  • Empowering.

Those members of our community who are sometimes discriminated against because of a disability are given the opportunity to access and enjoy physical activities in a professional environment with excellent teachers.

Dance F4ward™

Dance F4ward™

Dance F4ward™ is a school programme of cross curricular dance opportunities and an excellent way of engaging with all young people.

Our programmes are an innovative, fun and exciting way to enhance topics and themes being studied.

Physical Development has various important aspects -

  • Improved skills and co-ordination.
  • Improved spatial awareness.
  • Health and body awareness.
  • Confidence Building.
  • Healthy and active.
  • Positive sense of well-being.

Jive Alive™ - Dance On Referral

Jive Alive™ - Dance On Referral

Working within the Sunderland Wellness Centres we have introduced "Jive Alive™   - Dance On Referral" as part of the  Sunderland Council Exercise On Referral package.

Dance improves people’s health, fitness and wellbeing. This as a way to move away from more traditional methods of drug related prescriptions (where appropriate) by introducing a more holistic health approach.

Follow these easy steps for your "Dance On Referral" :

  • Step 1: Consultation with GP.
  • Step 2: Wellness Centre Referral
  • Step 3: Attend your FREE "Dance on Referral" session.
  • Step 4: Have fun!
  • Step 5: Enjoy feeling healthier and fitter!

Dare to Be…™

Dare to Be…™

"Dare to be...™" is an exciting brand new initiative from Sunderland Dance designed for and aimed at young people. The programme covers 5 issues which affect young people in today's society.

  • Racism Awareness
  • Bullying Awareness
  • Knife Crime Awareness
  • Youth Disorder Awareness
  • Drugs Awareness
  • Alcohol Awareness
  • Sexual Health awareness

Using dance, discussion and role play we explore with young people how these issues affect their lives. The programme is very interactive and is an excellent way of engaging with all young people.

The dare to be team create, deliver and facilitate the workshops and are all experienced dance teachers and performers in their own right. They all relate well to young people and are aware of positive interaction strategies to engage with young people.

Many have choreographed for major shows and performances and also have experience of delivering and teaching classes/projects and workshops in schools and other educational establishments.

Zumba Fitness

Zumba Fitness

Due to the high demand for Zumba classes Sunderland Dance are now rolling out these sessions at venues throughout the North East.

Dinner Dance Club

  • A fun and innovative way to address the childhood obesity agenda
  • A great way to get young people physically active.
  • 30 minute dance and fitness session

Teachers Zumba Time

We know how difficult it can be to fit the gym around your schedule so this is your time to put all the stress of the day behind you and have fun while working out and getting fit. The aim of the course is to use exercise, a well known stress reliever, to help you finish your school day. Our highly trained instructor will come to your venue when school is over and your pupils have gone, it is then YOUR turn to have some fun and let loose!
